The spread of INNS along river catchments and loch shorelines and their impact on aquatic ecosystems are of increasing concern to Scotland’s Rivers and Fisheries Trusts. As a result a number of Trusts have obtained support and resources to initiate control and eradication programmes for riparian INNS. These include:
- Ayrshire Rivers Trust (Giant Hogweed and Japanese Knotweed)
- Cromarty Firth Fisheries Trust (Rhododendron and Himalayan Balsam)
- Deveron, Bogie and Isla Fisheries Trust (Giant Hogweed and Japanese Knotweed)
- Galloway Fisheries Trust (Japanese Knotweed)
